Apartment Review for The Tuscany - Sarasota, FL

I have lived at the Tuscany for 3 years and seen it steadily go downhill. When I moved in years ago this was one of the better places to rent in North Sarasota. Unfortunately little by little, from landscaping to service, things have gone downhill. And given the local housing market which has a huge supply of houses and condos available for rent for greater square footage there are so many better choices than living here. It was just acquired by a management company and things are getting much worse. The swimming pools are often closed by the county health deparment due to dangerous water pH. For the rent you are paying, you would expect that the pools would be maintained. Unfortunately when you contact management about this or another concern, you either get excuses or a different answer than the time before. With the new management company they now have multiple signs out front advertising "now leasing" for instance which is very tacky and ugly. They are now advertising in the office to prospective tenants that the property possesses a number of amenities that other apartments do not have, such as a nature trail. The only problem is that the Tuscany does not have a nature trail. Maybe they mean the parking lot that wraps the property. Talk about false advertising. And when you call the office they now answer the phone, "how can I help you with outstanding service" (which must be another change by Sawyer, the new management company), but then go on to provide lousy service. Bad service is one thing, but it is that much more maddening because they act like they are providing good service. Let's just say it's LIP service. In the past the only problem with the Tuscany was if you needed something fixed in your apt, they were very slow to respond, but otherwise they kept the grounds very nicely landscaped. I was willing to put up with this one negative. But now there are just too many to ignore. CAVEAT EMPTOR
